Airports Authority of India (AAI) is working to develop the Amritsar airport on a public-private partnership model. It is in the process of inviting tenders. It is estimated that 700-800 tonnes of cargo is moved out of Ludhinana and Jhalandhar and is being handled at Delhi airport. The plans are to make Amritsar as an important cargo hub but earlier such efforts have been made but were unsuccessful without local co-operation and authorities. There is also a feasibility study report done by APEDA and Punjab Agro Industries Corp which estimates a demand of Rs.1000 million a day export potential from Rajasansi Airport.| < Prev | Next > |
